Discussion and Book Signing: Carlos Betancourt: Imperfect Utopia

Artist Carlos Betancourt will speak and sign books on April 10, 2:00-4:00 pm at the NSU Art Museum.

3 pm: Book signing in Museum Store
Betancourt and his studio, Imperfect Utopia, helped launch the Miami art scene in the 1980’s. Inspired by Puerto Rico, Miami and artists such as Ana Mendieta, Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol, Betancourt’s work is an explosion of radiant, eccentric colors in which he explores Caribbean and American Culture. The book Imperfect Utopia explores the Betancourt’s body of work with more than 250 images and text by critic Paul Laster, art history professor Robert Farris Thompson and United States inaugural poet, Richard Blanco.
