One of NSU’s outstanding administrators, Eustorgio Lopez, D.D.S, M.D. Director of Post-Grad Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, College of Dental Medicine completed the 2013 Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program (CAAMP) held on July 18-20 in Atlanta, Georgia. CAAMP is an interprofessional, open-enrollment course designed for administrative leaders in health professions education.

CAAMP was created in 2009 by AAL, an international consulting and professional development organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, to address the unique challenges and opportunities encountered by department chairs and academic administrators within colleges and schools of the health professions. Since its inception, over 200 department chairs and academic administrators from programs in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, allied health, and other health professions have participated in CAAMP.

CAAMP participants developed their leadership abilities through personal assessments and through peer feedback and individualized, professional coaching. Sessions included leadership styles, team building, faculty performance and assessment, strategic planning, conflict management, work-life balance, and legal issues in academia.
