Dept. of Speech-Language Pathology to offer Accent Modification Services, Nov. 4

National Stuttering Association support group meeting set for Nov. 4

Broward NSA Chapter meeting November 2015The Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) of HPD’s College of Health Care Sciences is offering accent modification services to NSU employees and students at The Speech and Language Pathology Clinic, 6100 Griffin Road.  These services are provided by graduate student SLP clinicians directly supervised by SLP faculty members in weekly group settings.

The clinic is now hosting an official chapter of the National Stuttering Association and will host a support group meeting at the clinic on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 pm. See flyer for details.

Services offered at the Speech and Language Clinic include:

Foreign Accent Modification
Non-native speakers of English are taught techniques to improve their pronunciation and grammatical features of English for more effective communication. Expansion of the speakers’ vocabulary is also offered.

Regional Dialect Modification
Native English speakers are instructed in techniques to assist them in acquiring the pronunciation and grammatical features of more Standard American English.
