Dance Works: Experience the Energy, Nov. 5 & 6
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Division of Performing and Visual Arts will open its Studio Series with Dance Works, a showcase of choreography and works in progress by NSU Dance faculty members and students. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 and 6, in the Performance Theatre of the college’s Performing and Visual Arts Wing in the Don Taft University Center, on NSU’s main campus.
Dance Works will feature seven performances, such as “Finding the Light” by Erika del Pozo, who won a 2009–2010 Black Box Award for outstanding choreography. Works will also include “I Stood Here Yesterday” and “Ripple Effect,” performed by the NSU Dance ensemble and choreographed by Katie Sopoci Drake, M.F.A., and Daniela Wencier, M.F.A., adjunct professors in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.
Elana Lanczi, M.F.A., assistant professor, will present a suite of dances titled “Dreamscapes,” a work in progress. Also during the production, Chetachi Egwu, Ph.D, assistant professor, will perform the first installment of a larger work, “Faces of a Cocoa God.”
Following the performances, there will be an informal Q&A session, during which audience members will have the opportunity to discuss the works with the artists. Admission to Dance Works is free, but tickets are required. To reserve seats, please call (954) 262-8179.
