Cross Country Squads Named USTFCCCA All Academic Teams
The Nova Southeastern University men’s and women’s cross country teams were each recently named USTFCCCA All Academic Teams, while three Sharks were named Scholar Athletes.
The NSU men’s team was honored for holding a team GPA of 3.05. Men’s standout runner Benjamin Manuel (So., Willemstad, Curacao) was named the team’s lone scholar athlete for earning a GPA higher than 3.25 as a business administration major.
The women’s team was also honored by the coaches association with a GPA of 3.17. Two female runners in Aimee Sims (biology) and Rachel Zachar (clinical neuro psychology) were named Scholar Athletes.
To earn the team honor, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.00 or greater and scored at an NCAA Division II regional meet to qualify for the award. Individual honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at his or her regional championship (total Division II teams in the region multiplied by seven runners per team) or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
