CPS Professor Awarded Lifetime Service Award
Center for Psychological Studies professor, Nathan Azrin, Ph.D., was recently presented with the Victor G. Laties Award for Lifetime Service to the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (SEAB). The award was created to recognize those individuals who made significant scientific contributions to the disciplines. Azrin is among the most internationally recognized faculty at NSU. He is known as an investigative scholar whose research and treatment/training programs are now in widespread usage. Azrin also helped establish the field of applied behavior analysis. Examples are the token economy or point reward program; use of time-out; and effective self-care programs for persons with disabilities including toilet training, nocturnal enuresis, dressing, proper mealtime skills, self-stimulation, aggression, and self-injury. Azrin developed programs for those suffering from alcoholism, drug use, medication adherence, tics, stuttering, and Tourette’s syndrome.
