CPS Associate Professor Keynote Speaker at NAMI General Meeting, Nov. 10
Scott Poland, Ed.D., will serve as the keynote speaker at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on Nov. 10 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Poland is an associate professor and coordinator of NSU’s Suicide and Violence Prevention Office, and a nationally recognized expert on school crisis, youth violence, suicide intervention, self injury, school safety, threat assessment, parenting and the delivery of psychological services in schools. He has led multiple national crisis teams in the aftermath of school shootings and suicides and has assisted schools and communities after acts of terrorism in New York, Washington, D.C. and Oklahoma.
The discussion will take place during the general meeting of Palm Beach county’s Mental Health Association, 909 Fern Street, West Palm Beach and will cover information on what parents, schools and communities can do to aid in the safeguarding of children and the building of resiliency skills.
