Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy students from the Phi Delta Chi (PDC) Beta Lambda chapter and the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP), organized and participated in the NBC 6 Health & Wellness Expo at the Marlin’s Park stadium on October 21 and November 1.

The students provided services to more than 400 community attendees, including blood pressure, blood glucose and body mass index (BMI) screenings along with health and awareness education free of charge. This provided the students an opportunity to interact with participants, enhance their communication skills and implement their knowledge of blood pressure, blood glucose and BMI. NSU faculty members also offered counseling sessions to attendees.

For the past four years, NSU College of Pharmacy students and faculty members have worked together to contribute to this great event to give back to the community. The health screenings were organized by Sanna Siddiqui, PDC community service chair, with the support of My-Oanh Nguyen, SCCP community chair. Faculty members included Jose Valdes, Pharm.D., BCPP; Devada Singh-Franco, R.Ph., Pharm.D., CDE; Richard Finkel, Pharm.D.; Robert McGory, M.S., Pharm.D.; and Gail McGory, ARNP.
