Connecting Community to Campus: Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Member Elected to Board of Boys and Girls Club
Pradeep Vanguri, Ph.D., ATC, assistant professor in the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, has been selected by the Emerge Broward Board Engagement program to serve on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.
Over the next year, Vanguri will work to provide educational experiences to youths involved in the Boys and Girls Club in the city of Carver Ranches. An underlying goal is to integrate science to show the importance of staying in school and pursuing a college education. Besides volunteering at the club, Vanguri also plans to organize campus visits to NSU, so the students can experience a sample of college life and what the university has to offer.
Vanguri has been involved in Emerge Broward, a young-professionals group that is a part of Leadership Broward, for the past two years. When working with the Boys and Girls Club, he draws upon his experience as a mentor for students at NSU and as a clinical coordinator in the college’s Athletic Training Education Program.
