Computer Sciences School Well-Represented at Interactive Learning Technologies Conference 2010

NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences (GSCIS) was well-represented at the Aug. 18 Interactive Learning Technologies Conference 2010 in Arlington, VA, which is the summer meeting of the Society for Applied Learning Technology (SALT®). A professor, two alumni and a doctoral candidate all presented or spoke at the conference. Their contributions to the conference included:

  • Gertrude (Trudy) Abramson, Ed.D., professor of Computing Technology in Education for GSCIS, moderated a panel titled “Disruptive Technologies and Organizational Change.”
  • David Mylott, Ph.D., is a 2008 graduate of GSCIS, and is Technical Training Manager at Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates (VSEA) in Newburyport, MA. He spoke about the evolution of the technical instructor in a technology savvy world within a high-tech organization.
  • Antonio R. Rincon, Ph.D., is a 2009 graduate of GSCIS, and is Principal Engineer at General Dynamics in Pittsfield, MA. He described efforts underway within General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act that requires access to electronic and information technology procured by Federal agencies. 
  • Major Mark Givens, a doctoral candidate at GSCIS, is an active duty Marine officer who works in the Marine Corps Combat Development Command / Combat Development & Integration facility in Quantico, VA.  He described and called for a solution to resistance to innovation within the Marine Corps division for Combat Development and Integration.
