Computer Sciences School Faculty and Students Present at Knowledge Management Conference
NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences Professor Yair Levy, Ph.D., provided the keynote speech on “Data Analytics for Knowledge Discovery, Improving and Sustaining Quality” during the Knowledge Management Conference on June 27, in Novi-Sad, Serbia.
The International Institute for Applied Knowledge Management (IIAKM) (http://www.iiakm.org/) hosted the conference and awarded Levy the “Fellow & Distinguished Scholar Award”. The award was provided to those who demonstrated outstanding leadership and conducted research with a significant impact in the field of information systems and knowledge management.
During the conference, Levy and NSU Professor Steve Terrell, Ph.D., Yoram Eshet (Professor, Open University of Israel), and Heinz Dreher (Professor, Curtin University, Australia), served on a panel moderated by Alex Koohang (Dean & Professor, Middle Georgia State College) entitled “Research Methods as a Cornerstone for Scientific Exploration”. The session was well attended by many young scholars and doctoral students.
Additionally, three NSU doctoral students and one alumnus presented during the conference. Shonda Brown, a doctoral student in information systems presented “Towards a development of an index to measure pharmaceutical companies? Online privacy practices”. The paper co-authored with her dissertation chair, Levy, was published as a “Research-in-Progress” in the Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management (OJAKM) and was a recipient of the Best Research-In-Progress Paper Award. Linda Brock, Ph.D., alumni of the information systems program presented “The market value of information system (IS) security for e-banking”. Her paper, also co-authored with Levy, was published in the Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management (OJAKM) and the paper was a recipient of the Best Research Paper Award. Stephen Mujeye, a doctoral student in information systems presented “Complex passwords: How far is too far? The role of cognitive load on employee productivity”, which was also co-authored with his dissertation chair, Levy, and was published as a “Research-in-Progress” paper in the Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management (OJAKM). Nathan White, a doctoral student in information systems presented “BLASST: Uncovering knowledge on how boredom, loneliness, social anxiety, social gratification, and social relationships fuel a driver’s need to text”. His paper, co-authored with his dissertation chair, Levy, was also published as a “Research-in-Progress” paper in the Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management (OJAKM)
