Computer & Information Sciences School Doctoral Student Publishes Book, Journal Article and Book Chapter

C. Matt Graham, a doctoral student in information systems at the Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, has authored and published a book entitled, MIS for the Business Student: A Technical Use and Development Guide.

Recently, Graham published a journal article in the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Research entitled, “Student Learning Preferences and SMS Text Messaging: A Web 2.0 Large Classroom Engagement System.” He has also contributed to a peer-reviewed book chapter on “Trends in Distance Education” within the book entitled Learning Management Systems.

Graham is currently a faculty member at the University of Maine and was the recipient of their 2011 Faculty Technology Stipend for developing an in-class SMS text messaging system to increase student engagement in large classes. Prior to this, Graham was the chair of the Business Administration and Computer Technology programs at Andover College.

As a doctoral student in the information systems program, his research interests include information security, computer privacy, online learning environment, open-source web technologies and workplace e-learning.
