Computer & Information Sciences School Doctoral Student Honored at the 2013 Black Engineer of the Year Awards


Je’aime H. Powell and Guest

Je’aime H. Powell, a doctoral candidate of computer information systems at NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences, was recently honored with the “Student Leadership – Graduate Level Award” at the Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Global Competitiveness Conference in Washington, D.C.

Powell is currently the grid manager and graduate researcher and network analyst at Elizabeth City State University’s Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research. He currently mentors undergraduate students on the Polar Grid Team and younger students in middle school and high school about the STEM fields. Powell previously worked as a Senior Network Specialist for Canon Information Technology Systems (CITS).
