NSU Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences student Rick Lunkenheimer, was selected as one of the 10 finalists in the QVC Analytics Challenge.

This competition involves using real world data from Fortune 500 companies to solve problems. Lunkenheimer’s entry was a Tableau visualization that depicted how moving a plant to a new location would affect current employees of the pharmacy company Merck. Lunkenheimer will be presenting his visualization at the 2015 Association of Information Systems (AIS) Student Chapters Leadership Conference in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 9-11.

At the final competition each team will make a 10-minute presentation before a panel of industry judges. Winning entries receive cash prizes divided among team members and will be featured in a gallery on the AIS Student Chapter Conference site.

Lunkenheimer is a current student in the master’s degree program in management information systems with a concentration in business intelligence/analytics and a current student member of the NSU AIS Student Chapter. James Parrish, Ph.D., Associate Professor, VP of Student Chapters for AIS and NSU Chapter Advisor, stated “This is a great news for Rick and a testament to all of the faculty teaching in our analytics program.”
