Computer and Information Sciences Doctoral Student Presents Research at Conferences

Simon Cleveland, doctoral student at NSU’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences (GSCIS), recently presented two research papers co-authored with his faculty advisor Timothy Ellis, Ph.D., at the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in Chicago. The paper, entitled “Toward a Model for Customer-Driven Release Management,” proposes a model for customer-driven release management that has been shown to minimize the number of software bugs discovered in production systems. Cleveland’s paper on “Determining Microblogging Effectiveness for Capturing Quality Knowledge” explores a model to address the research gap in utilizing microblogging as a platform to capture knowledge instantaneously due to its ubiquitous nature to acquire valuable experiential knowledge that will disappear with over three million baby boomers retiring by 2020.
Earlier this year, he presented a paper at the Southern Association for Information Systems Conference (SAIS) in Savannah entitled “On-the-job Informal Learning Practices for IS Students.” This paper explores four techniques that universities can incorporate in information systems curriculums to prepare students to become better on-the-job learners.
Cleveland is pursuing his doctoral degree in information systems and holds the esteemed Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB), and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certifications. He serves as an applications analyst and project manager for the Collier County Government.
