Community Resolution Services at SHSS Trains BC Athletes on Team Building and Conflict Resolution

Community Resolution Services (CRS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) participated in Broward College’s Athletic Symposium on Aug. 28 on the college’s central campus in Davie. CRS’ training focused on Team Building and Conflict Resolution. There were 130 athletes present from all of the Broward College sports teams.

The CRS trainers were Erika Freeman Sauer, CRS Coordinator and doctoral candidate; William Blackwell, a master’s student in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR); and Kamilah Wilson, a student in the Master of Arts Program in Cross-Disciplinary Studies (MACS) in the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS).

CRS offers trainings and workshops, as well as mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, and community building services, to individuals, families, groups, and organizations to resolve conflicts on the NSU campus and out in the broader community. The largest practicum site for DCAR and DMS/MACS students at SHSS, CRS supports students who intend to enhance their skills and who want to participate in projects and activities rich with prospects for professional development. It also offers needed services to the community, enabling our underserved community members to access and participate in community development and conflict resolution services.

For more information about CRS, please contact Erika Freeman Sauer at 954-262-4237 or at efreeman@nova.edu, or contact CRS Director Judith McKay at 954-262-3060 or at mckayj@nova.edu
