The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) recently held their annual Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando. The Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists Student-Chapter (FSHP-SC) from NSU actively participated and showcased a poster about their professionalism track. The track consists of three main events: CV Workshop, Interview Skills Workshop and Residency Showcase. The CV Workshop allowed students across multiple College of Pharmacy campuses to meet with prospective pharmacy employers to learn how to properly format CV and tailor it depending on the career path they wish to pursue. With a polished CV in hand, students were then ready for step two of the track, the Interview Skills Workshop. At an event open to the entire university, mock interviews were held between students and pharmacy professionals. The final and main event of the Professionalism Track is the upcoming Residency Showcase, which will give pharmacy students the opportunity to use the skills they have acquired from the first two events of the track as they interact with pharmacy residents and residency program directors of major hospitals in South Florida. Overall, the objective of this track, as highlighted by the ASHP Midyear poster, is to provide students with the opportunity to meet with pharmacy professionals from different backgrounds in order to develop their professional skills and learn key ways to differentiate themselves from other candidates when pursuing their pharmacy careers.
