College of Health Care Sciences enjoys Sweet Taste of Teamwork

A Taste of Teamwork

On February 15, the College of Health Care Sciences Student Affairs team and the HPD Admissions team came together for the “Feel the Love” dessert social.  The goal of this first annual gathering was to strengthen relationships and discuss opportunities to support student success, satisfaction, and retention as students are transitioned into the university.  Staff shared best practices for building relationships with students while managing high volumes of applications.  Many shared stories of meaningful interactions that make them proud of the positive impact they are having on students.

In the College of Health Care Sciences, the Admissions staff spend a considerable amount of time and energy assisting students through the application process for our 29 academic programs. In addition to processing applications and accompanying documentation, staff members field multiple phone calls, answer questions, sit on admissions committees, and direct students to the additional NSU offices they need to complete their application information.

Once students are admitted, the Student Affairs staff pick up the baton, beginning with setting up background checks and immunization documentation requests, to hosting orientation and pursuing our motto, “promoting student success and development within an engaging university community..

The Admissions and Student Affairs offices enjoyed sharing best student-centered practices while getting to know one another better.
