College of Dental Medicine Students Run for Breast Cancer Awareness

The College of Dental Medicine Student Chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) participated in the recent Susan G. Komen 5K Walk for breast cancer in Miami this October and raised $450 to support breast cancer research. The team included Sharon Siegel D.D.S., M.S., professor and chair of prosthodontics and dental students Htet Bo, Cindy Hua, Lam Le, Keith Sochaiwanich, Sandrine Huynh, and Mary Ta.

It was an amazing event with people of all backgrounds and ages participating, all to support breast cancer research. Participants had the opportunity to visit tents with education materials on early breast cancer detection and healthy living. The event was highlighted by a ceremony in which breast cancer survivors were celebrated and received pink roses for their courage and strength.
