College of Health Care Sciences Promotes Diabetes Awareness
Nova Southeastern University’s College of Health Care Sciences has entered a partnership with the American Diabetes Association to initiate a ‘Live Empowered’ program aimed specifically at African American and underserved church communities.
The ‘Live Empowered’ initiative is aimed at teaching individuals how to thrive with and prevent Diabetes. The goal of the program – developed by the American Diabetes Association – is to bring important messages about diabetes to the natural gathering place of many people living with the disease, their church.
Terry Morrow, Ph.D., assistant dean of Student Affairs at the College of Health Care Sciences, formed several inter-professional teams that will be working in the local Broward and Palm Beach County Communities to spread the word on managing diabetes. The inter-professional teams have formed the NSU Shark team to participate in the Step OUT Mega Walk scheduled for Oct. 20 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise to raise money for diabetes. You can walk with the team or donate to the cause by visiting the team page for NSU SHARKS. Click here to view the aforementioned page.
