Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale and William Riddle Productions, LLC. are extremely proud to present a unique and innovative series of International Master Vocal Artists. This prestigious series is entitled ”Up Close and Personal at Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale” and will feature vocal “Icons” of the various genres of music, from Musical Theater to Opera to Jazz.
JANE MONHEIT, Icon of Jazz, will be our next artist featured in an intimate and interactive concert, followed by a cocktail reception with Ms. Monheit, on Friday, March 22, 2013. On Saturday morning, March 23, 2013 a “Conversation with the Artist”…a non-traditional Masterclass and interview, will be held in the Horovitz Auditorium at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale.
An extraordinarily gifted jazz vocalist, Ms. Monheit, has garnered numerous accolades for her sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs making her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds. Her first album, Never Never Land (2000), was voted top debut recording and stayed on the Billboard Jazz chart for over a year. Her albums In the Sun (2002) and Taking a Chance on Love (2004) yielded two Grammy nominations. Monheit’s The Lovers, The Dreamers And Me was released to widespread critical acclaim (2009.)
In her current album titled Home, Monheit has upped the ante in her career by digging deep into what brought her to this music in the first place: great songs, and her passion for interpreting them. She continues to tour and perform in front of sold-out audiences worldwide.
Jane Monheit “…is a prodigious stylist whose gorgeous vocal throb is a phenomenon unto itself.”
