Circle of Friends Reception and Discussion “On Hemingway: Three Views,” March 8

03-17-COF-Hemingway-Digital-mass

Circle of Friends Welcome & Thank You Pre-Event Reception, 5:30 pm, Second Floor, Room 2053

Hemingway enjoyed a good drink now and then with his friends, and you can too, with the Circle of Friends! So, if you have always wondered about the group that supports the Library, this is a wonderful way to sample a “taste” of this important organization. Light hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served, and admission is complimentary for members, and $20 for non-members. To register for the reception by March 1, please click on this link: https://www.nova.edu/cof/hemingway

On Hemingway: Three Views Public Program, 7:00 pm, Second Floor, Cotilla Gallery

After the reception, we travel back in time, and explore the life of author Ernest Hemingway from three different perspectives. Florida historian and literary scholar Betty Jean Steinshouer returns to the NSU Alvin Sherman Library, after her “Marjorie & Marjory” performance in 2015, for yet another presentation in character, examining the author of machismo, from the point of view of three women; Gertrude Stein, Willa Cather and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings.

Steinshouer has been doing public programs and teacher seminars for the Florida Humanities Council since 1989 and has toured a total of 44 states for the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Big Read program of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The fourth of a 5-part series funded by the Florida Humanities Council, this presentation is free and open to the public. To register for the presentation, or for more information about the event or series, please click on this link: public.library.nova.edu/FHC.

Funding for this series has been provided by The Florida Humanities Council (www.FloridaHumanities.org) with funds from The Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs. Email libdev@nova.edu / call 954-262-4627 if you have questions about the event, or the Circle of Friends.
