Circle of Friends – Florida’s Amazing History! And Why You Should Care

2015-COF-Eliot-Kleinberg-PosterWho owned Florida longer: Spain or the United States? What side did Florida take in the American Revolution? What side did Florida take in the Civil War? Critical questions. But most Floridians can’t correctly answer all three.

Join journalist, author and history scholar — and Florida native — Eliot Kleinberg to learn more about the place with the most fascinating history around. It’s a history that’s sometimes hilarious and sometimes tragic but always fascinating.

Hosted by The Circle of Friends for the NSU Alvin Sherman Library in the Adolfo and Marisela Cotilla Gallery on the second floor of the Sherman Library, the event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. RSVP by March 11, to 954-262-4593 or libdev@nova.edu.

The Circle of Friends will hold a private pre-event reception at 5:30 pm for members only, and reservations are again required.

Funding for this program has been provided by The Florida Humanities Council, with funds from the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs.

The Circle of Friends is a diverse group of individuals who share the common goal of furthering the intellectual resources of the Alvin Sherman Library. As a result of an innovative agreement between NSU and the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the Alvin Sherman Library is a unique joint-use facility. This means that anyone who lives or works in Broward County may apply for an Alvin Sherman Library card and access its resources.

For more information, please call 954-262-4593, email libdev@nova.edu or visit www.nova.edu/library/cof. To sign up for a library card, please visit www.nova.edu/library/card. To join the Circle of Friends or to renew your membership, click on this link: https://www.nova.edu/cof/membership/.
