Circle of Friends Annual Meeting
The Circle of Friends for the NSU Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center recently hosted its Annual Meeting in the Adolfo & Marisela Cotilla Gallery to review the past year’s accomplishments, recognize outgoing board members, and install new board members and officers.
Outgoing board member, the University’s First Lady Jana Hanbury was recognized for her devoted service. Daniel T. Fleischer and Rona Levitt were elected to the Board of Directors. Elected for office were Ronnie Oller- President, Kitty Preziosi- Vice-President, Ann Porterfield- Secretary, and Peter Woolf- Treasurer. Also remaining on the board are Sharon Berry, Adolfo J. Cotilla, Jr., Lindsey Glantz, Michael Greenberg, Bonnie Lippman, Greg McDermott, Charles Morton, Luis Muriel, Janet Speth, and Tom Zimmerman. Ex-Officio Board members include James Hutchens, Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian at NSU, and Diane Klein, Director of Development at NSU.
At the reception, Keynote Speaker, accomplished attorney Nadine Gonzalez shared her inspiring story of how she found the NSU Alvin Sherman Library’s Writing Workshop and became a published author. Ms. Gonzalez talked about finding her passion in writing, getting support from other authors, the process of writing a book and becoming published. The NSU Alvin Sherman Library is proud to have played a part in this author’s success!
The Circle of Friends is a diverse group of individuals who share the common goal of furthering the intellectual resources of the Alvin Sherman Library. As a result of an innovative agreement between NSU and the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the Alvin Sherman Library is a unique joint-use facility. This means that anyone who lives or works in Broward County is eligible to have a library card and to access the five-story Library, Research, and Information Technology Center.
