Children and Families Clinic Wins Case after 7-Day Trial
The Law Center’s Children and Families Clinic recently won a complex termination of parental rights case in Miami after a 7-day trial. Professors Michael Dale, Michael Flynn, and Brion Blackwelder worked with our dedicated clinic students, Maybel Castellon (’14), Ruby Garg (’14), Tara Gelfand (’14), and Monica Jordan (’14).
The clinic represented four children in this case, and the litigation involved handling multiple pretrial motions, 7,000 pages of documents, 25 depositions, and 15 trial witnesses presented by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The clinic will continue to represent these children because the case has now evolved into a dependency case.
