CHASS Alumna Named Administrative Officer with U.S. Department of State
Sherika Hornes, M.S., alumna of the NSU’s College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) has been named an Administrative Officer with the Office of Foreign Missions with the U.S. Department of State in Los Angeles, CA. Hornes is a graduate of the master’s program in National Security Affairs.
Hornes was previously chosen as a 2014 semi-finalist for the federal government’s Presidential Management Fellows Program. She was selected as a 2014 Pathways Intern for the U.S. Department State in the San Francisco Regional Office. As an intern, she worked with the Office of Foreign Missions and worked closely with diplomatic consulates throughout the northwestern U.S. She was sworn in by Undersecretary of Management Patrick Kennedy. While as NSU, Hornes was a finalist for Regional Campus Student of the Year. She was also a recipient of an academic scholarship from the Winter Park branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
