F. Charles “Bud” Mace Elected to a 3rd term on the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior Board
F. Charles Mace, Ph.D., Unicorn Children’s Foundation Endowed Chair, professor of Psychology at the Center for Psychological Studies and director of the Severe Behavior Disorders Program, was elected to serve a third 8-year term on the Board of Directors of the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (SEAB).
SEAB was formed in 1957 to foster the advancement of the science of experimental analysis of behavior through research, the diffusion of knowledge, and the publication of research journals. SEAB publishes the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. Dr. Mace was a former editor of the JABA journal.
Based on the work of B.F. Skinner, the work in this field applies behavioral learning theory to changing behaviors. It has led to treatments that have dramatically improved the lives of individuals suffering from serious behavioral problems. Contributing to research in this field, Mace was the youngest person to receive the prestigious Don F. Hake Award for research in this area from the American Psychological Association in 1995.
Mace holds a joint appointment between CPS and the Mailman Segal Center and will develop clinical and research programs designed to address the behavioral problems faced by children with autism and other developmental disabilities. He will open a clinic this semester in the Psychology Services Center for the treatment of severe behavior disorders. For more information on this clinic, contact Dr. Mace at 954-262-5730.
