Center for Psychological Services Professor Gives Multiple Presentations on School Safety and Suicide Awareness and Prevention, April 22
Scott Poland, Ph.D., a professor in NSU’s Center for Psychological Services and co-director of the Suicide and Violence Prevention Office, recently presented the keynote address on school safety at the Alaska State Conference for Dare Officers. In addition he recently was invited to present at Stanford University about youth suicide and contagion as sadly the local Palo Alto School District had multiple suicides in recent months. Poland is the co-author of a 2015 book Suicide in Schools.
Poland will also be presenting a keynote address locally on children, schools and trauma at the Broward Victim’s Right Coalition Conference April 24. The event will be held at the Sunrise Civic Center Grand Ballroom and registration information is available online (www.browardvictimsrights.org).
Additionally, Poland will be providing a free national webinar on schools and suicide sponsored by Signs of Suicide. The webinar will be at 2 p.m., April 22. Registration information is available online (www.mentalhealthscreening.org).
