Center for Autism and Related Disabilities Hosts Family Day at Flamingo Gardens

Family Day sponsors Wendy and Camilo Saravia.

The University of Miami – Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD) recently hosted a family fun day at Flamingo Gardens.

During the June 5 event, families spent the afternoon enjoying the Wildlife Encounter Show, free-roaming peacocks, amazing wildlife, and magnificent botanical gardens. Families refueled at the BBQ pavilion with free lunch provided by UM-NSU CARD. Live music and a puppet show went on during the lunch for added entertainment and excitement.

This event was made possible through the collaboration between UM-NSU CARD, Flamingo Gardens, and the Saravia Family. Special thanks also goes out to Subway Store 1674 (4900 S. University Dr.) for supporting this event.

The UM-NSU CARD provides free services for more than 5,500 families throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties. Services include family support, technical assistance and consultation, parent and professional training programs, and public education activities.

The center also supports research in a variety of disciplines to better understand the causes and potential treatments for the disorder. For more information on UM-NSU CARD, please visit www.umcard.org or call 954-262-7111.
