Celebrate Veteran’s Day at NSU Library’s Military Genealogy Workshop, Nov. 11
In honor of Veteran’s Day, NSU’s Alvin Sherman Library is hosting its 2012 Genealogy Day, themed “Researching Military Genealogy” on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Find out is a military hero is a part of your family tree, hear experts speak on military research techniques, and focus on time periods including the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the U.S. Civil War, and more.
Keynote speakers include:
- Edward Lengel, American military historian, professor at the University of Virginia, editor-in-chief of The Papers of George Washington, and author of General George Washington: A Military Life, and Inventing George Washington: America’s Founder, in Myth and Memory.
- Craig R. Scott, C.G., President & CEO of Heritage Books, Inc. speaks about researching Civil War ancestors.
- Debbie Duay, D.A.R. speaks about finding Revolutionary War Patriots in your family tree.
- Harold W. Youmans speaks about finding relatives from the War of 1812.
