NSU’s College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) in conjunction with the NSU Cell Therapy Institute held a joint symposium earlier this month, named the Translational Medicine, Engineering, and Computing (Trans-MEC) Research Symposium. Approximately 25 researchers from both CEC and the NSU Cell Therapy Institute, along with faculty members from NSU’s College of Psychology and Halmos College of Natural Sciences and Oceanography presented and shared their innovative, leading edge research.

The event was co-chaired by Richard Jove, Ph.D., Director of the NSU Cell Therapy Institute and Distinguished Research Professor, and Yair Levy, Ph.D., Professor of Information Systems and Cybersecurity in NSU’s CEC. The topics presented ranged from stem cell based therapy for advanced cardiovascular diseases, innovative new cancer therapies, advanced computational modeling for engineered tissue formation, cybersecurity and social engineering, molecular biology and genomics to understanding the deep sea and marine organisms. The event was organized to promote additional multi-disciplinary and computational intensive research projects that can help continue excel NSU into a leading research institution.
