Campus Rec Offers Instructional Programs this Summer!
Belly Dancing
Have you ever wanted to learn Belly Dancing? Now is your chance! Campus Recreation is offering a Level 1 six-week Belly Dance Instructional Program. The Level 1 class will be offered on Mondays, beginning June 7 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. The session is only $60 per student and $75 for any non member of the RecPlex. Golf
Instructors Scott Roland, Jeff Butler and Chris Granger do a great job at fitting the needs of each individual golfer. We will be offering Wednesday night classes as well as the usual Saturday morning classes. Classes will begin on June 2 and 5. Feel free to check out our Web site at Instructional Program Golf for a complete set of class dates, times, and prices. Classes fill up fairly quickly and each class has limited space, so don’t hesitate to call 954-262-7301 or stop by the front desk at the RecPlex to register. A confirmation email will be sent to all registered participants before the start of the first class.
Swim Like a Shark – Learn to Swim program
The NSU Aquatics Department Swim Program emphasizes the following topics for the water safety sessions depending on the age of the participants:
- Facility Familiarization
- Basic water safety rules
- Recognizing the lifeguard
- Sun safety
- Basic water safety rules review
- Reaching assists
- Throwing assists, DO NOT GO
- Staying safe around aquatics environments
- Swimming with a Buddy in a Supervised area
- Recognizing an emergency
- Look before you leap
- Think so you don’t sink
- How to call for HELP
- General water safety around the home
- The importance of wearing a Life Jacket
NSU Swimming Program is divided in six group levels:
- Level 1 or Turtles (water adaptation)
- Level 2 or Clown Fish (breath control, kicking and floating techniques)
- Level 3 or Penguins (glide techniques and free style)
- Level 4 or Seals (backstroke)
- Level 5 or Dolphins (breaststroke)We
- Level 6 or Sharks (butterfly style and turns)
