Timothy Dixon, J.D.

NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) will host the CAHSS Intellectual Conversations. This is the first in the winter series titled, “Truth to Power.” This event will feature Timothy Dixon, J.D., faculty in the Department of History and Political Science. Dixon will discuss “An Examination of the Myths Surrounding Undocumented Peoples in America, and the Ethics of Immigration Reform in the U.S. Government.”

This conversation will explore the issues of the impact of undocumented workers on the US economy, the motivations for unlawful immigration to the US, and the impact of various proposals for a “path to citizenship” upon the persons seeking that path. It will evaluate the political motivations behind pro- and anti- immigrant rhetoric and proposals in the US Congress and Executive branch.

The conversation will be held from noon – 1 p.m. in the Cotilla Gallery on the second floor in the Alvin Sherman Library (Fort Lauderdale-Davie campus.) The event is free and open to the public.
