CAHSS Students Create Art Mural Project for NSU’s Recreation and Wellness
Each year, Kandy Lopez-Moreno, M.F.A., faculty in the Department of Performing and Visual Arts (DPVA) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) receives requests from across NSU and the community asking for art students in her Painting I course to decorate one of their walls. Using a selection process, a project is determined and a team from the class creates the mural. Last year’s mural was created for NSU’s TRED, Translational Research and Economic Development.
This year, the selected project was for a wall for NSU’s Recreation and Wellness. Pallavi Samudrala, a Biology major and Studio Arts minor created the selected design. Her team also included Andres Camejo and Molly Scanlon, Ph.D. Scanlon is faculty in the Department of Writing and Communication and a student in the Painting I class. They began the mural in April and completed it in time for the week of finals.
