NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) is delighted to announce the successful Fourth Annual High School Model United Nations was held on November 4. Hosted by the Nova International Relations Association (NIRA) in CAHSS, more than 100 high school students from five area high schools participated in the General Assembly and Security Council simulations. NIRA students hosted and chaired the event with President Brandon Chow and Vice President Leigh Mumford running the proceedings. In addition to NIRA members, several NIRA graduates came back to participate. Desiree Kennedy, class of 2014 and Vanessa DuBoulay, class of 2016 returned to NSU to help co-chair committees with NIRA members. Danielle Zarfati, class of 2016 helped the chairs and graded position papers.

NIRA is housed in the Department of History and Political Science and the faculty advisor is G. Nelson Bass, III, J.D., Ph.D. Department Chair, Andrea Shaw-Nevins, Ph.D., and the entire department are delighted to provide this opportunity for local high school students to spend time on our campus. In addition, it provides an opportunity for NIRA graduates to return to NSU.
