Aileen Farrar, Ph.D., faculty in DLML will facilitate discussion of Alex Garland’s Annihilation, September 6 (Thursday), 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Alvin Sherman Library, Room 4009.
Unsettling, this film draws on humankind’s most primal questions, mixing sci-fi, fantasy, and horror with devastating and stunning visuals. The story begins when Lena, a cellular biologist and professor, is drafted by a government security force to investigate an electromagnetic anomaly called the ‘Shimmer.’ Expedition after expedition has already been sent through the iridescent wall that daily expands and threatens to consume the southern stretch of coast of the United States, but only one person has ever returned—an army Special Forces soldier, Lena’s husband. Join us next week to discover what is inside the Shimmer.
