CAHSS Faculty to be Panelist-City Speaks Forum “On Feminism and Women in the Workplace & Culture”, May 31
Kate Waites, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Literature and Modern Languages in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), will be a panelist in City Speaks Forum on Feminism and Women in the Workplace and Culture. The forum will be held at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 7:00-9:00pm. Fort Lauderdale’s New City Players sponsor the event.
Waites co-founded and served as advisor for NSU’s unique campus American Association of University Women chapter, and was the long-serving advisor of Radio X. She also advised an early emanation of SASA (Social Action Social Awareness) and the campus Gay Straight Student Alliance. Her published work has appeared in the journals Film/Literature Quarterly, Auto/Biography, The Journal of Popular Culture, Biography: An Interdisciplinary Quarterly, and in Routledge’s Chick Flicks: Contemporary Women at the Movies. Waites’ scholarly work has focused on auto/biography, gendered images, and on the representation of women in pop culture and in film.
