CAHSS Faculty Receives Whedon Studies Association “Mr. Pointy” Award
Juliette Kitchens, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Writing and Communication (DWC) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), is the recipient of the Whedon Studies Association “Mr. Pointy” award. The Whedon Studies Association annually convenes a jury (WSA members) to review the scholarship published the previous year (2017, in this case) and award the best short (example, article, chapter) and best long (example, edited collection, monograph) works the respective “Mr. Pointy” award. The award is named after an object in Joss Whedon’s television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Kitchens’ edited collection, is titled, At Home in the Whedonverse: Essays on Domestic Place, Space, and Life (McFarland, 2017). The award reads: “Mr. Pointy Award (Long) for the Best Book in Whedon Studies for 2018.” One of the contributors in the collection, Julie Hawk, won the Short award for her chapter in Kitchens’ book.
