CAHSS Faculty Publishes Chapter on Women’s Agency in Conflict and Post-Conflict Societies
Ismael Muvingi, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Conflict Resolution Studies (DCRS) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), contributed a chapter in a volume co-edited by Martha Mutisi and Sandra Cheldelin. The book is titled, “Deconstructing Women, Peace, and Security: A Critical Review of Approaches to Gender and Empowerment.” Muvingi’s chapter is entitled, “Reclaiming Women’s Agency in Conflict and Post-conflict Societies: Women’s Use of Political Space in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.”
Muvingi is the faculty advisor to the African Working Group (AWG) housed in CAHSS. He is also the director of the doctoral program in conflict analysis and resolution. Muvingi’s research and teaching interests include transitional justice, human rights, and Africa and the African Diaspora.
