CAHSS Faculty Publishes Book Tutoring Second Language Writers

Shanti Bruce, Ph.D.

Shanti Bruce, Ph.D., faculty and chair of the Department of Writing and Communication in NSU’s College of Art, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), is the co-editor with Ben Rafoth, Ed.D., of a recently published book, Tutoring Second Language Writers. The book is a complete update of their 2009 book, ESL Writers. According to Bruce: “This is my fourth book focusing on multilingual writers, a student population that continues to grow on university campuses.”

Rafoth is a distinguished university professor and director of the Writing Center at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he also teaches graduate courses in the composition and TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) program.

Bruce’s research and teaching interests include writing centers, writing program administration, research methods, composition pedagogies, and teaching students how to teach writing and how to write for journals and magazines.
