CAHSS’ Community Resolution Services trains CIT
Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D., faculty and chair in the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) provided a training for law enforcement officers in Broward County becoming a part of the Crisis Intervention Team in their respective agencies. McKay presented on Crisis Intervention at the Hollywood Police Department. Doctoral student Chinyere Obinna accompanied McKay as an observer. Obinna has done practicum work with McKay in Community Resolution Services (CRS). CRS regularly works in CIT training as well as with the NSU and local communities.
CRS is a practicum and volunteer site for students interested in enhancing their skills in training and workshop development and presentation, using narratives and storytelling to promote community dialog and peace, facilitation, conflict coaching, and other projects. Upcoming CRS events include participation at Community Fest on February 10, 2018, and a workshop presentation in collaboration with the Alvin Sherman Library on February 17, 2018, at 2:00pm on Interpersonal Communication. For more information about CRS, please contact Stefano Fanfoni, M.S., CRS Coordinator at sf895@mynsu.nova.edu or Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D, at 954-262-3060 or at mckayj@nova.edu.
