CAHSS and First Year Seminar Program Host The Reel Film Series-Next Showing of Get Out, Oct, 24.
The Department of Literature and Modern Languages (DLML) in NSU’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) and the First Year Seminar Program are pleased to present NSU’s Annual Film Series: The Reel. This film series offers NSU students, faculty, and other members of the university and local community curated film screenings twice per fall and winter semesters. Pizza, cookies, and drinks are provided, and each night is free of charge.
The next movie is Jordan Peele’s Get Out, on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Mailman-Hollywood 2nd Floor Auditorium. Aileen Farrar, Ph.D., faculty in DLML will facilitate the discussion.
Chris Washington, a black photographer, begrudgingly agrees to meet his white girlfriend’s parents at their secluded family estate. When something seems amiss with the black servants of the house, Chris confides in his TSA friend, Rod, who excitedly warns him that he is trapped in a real-life horror movie. Disturbing and yet hysterical—will you brave this racially charged, genre-defying, thrill of a film?
