Business School Professor Speaks at Hispanic Unity Entrepreneurship Conference
The Hudson Center of Entrepreneurship and Executive Education at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship recently sponsored Hispanic Unity’s 2nd annual Entrepreneur Summit, which was held on Friday, April 20 at the Seminole Hard Rock Resort and Casino in Hollywood, FL.
At the event, Huizenga Business School Professor John F. Riggs, D.B.A. (A.B.D.), conducted a seminar titled “The Entrepreneurial World of Sales: Selling your ideas, selling your company, and selling ‘yourself.’” The workshop was designed to help the entrepreneur become more productive and successful in their selling efforts. Participants in the standing room only seminar gained a strong understanding of the selling process, including key selling skills and behaviors of successful entrepreneurs.
Riggs has more than 25 years of professional and managerial sales expertise and is currently an assistant professor of marketing at the Huizenga Business School. In addition to his professional accolades, Riggs is a renowned speaker in the areas of professional selling, sales management, and accountability.
The summit’s keynote speaker was Harry M. Jansen Kraemer, Jr., M.B.A., an executive partner with Madison Dearborn, one of the largest private equity firms in the United States and a professor of management and strategy at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Baxter International Inc., a multi-billion-dollar global healthcare company.
Kraemer spoke about “Four Things to Do for Leadership” and specifically noted that good leaders: 1) start with self reflection, 2) understand and implement balance, 3) exemplify “true self confidence,” and 4) exhibit genuine humility.
