Business Professors Present at Southwest Decision Sciences Conference

Three professors from NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship —Leslie Tworoger, D.B.A., Eleanor Lawrence, Ph.D., and Cynthia Ruppel, Ph.D., presented their research entitled “The Emotions and Cognitions of Change: Top Management Reflections in the Healthcare Industry” at the Southwest Decision Sciences Conference. The conference was held March 12-16, 2013 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The professors found that research in this area has focused on the emotions of employees during times of radical change. However, the emotions of the leadership team, although they have initiated the change, have not been studied.

An article entitled “Telework: Identifying a Personal Dimension to Work-Related Socio-Technical Theory” by Huizenga Business School Ruppel and Tworoger, and Thomas Tworoger, D.B.A., was published in the journal Advances in Business Research. With the rapid growth of virtual work arrangements/telework, many issues have arisen that were not anticipated as employees moved out of the office. This research develops a framework in which to study these possibly unintended consequences.
