Business Professor and Alumnus Co-Author HR Article
Bahaudin Mujtaba, D.B.A., associate professor of Management, teamed up with Eleanor Marschke, D.B.A., an alumnus and adjunct professor of the Huizenga Business School, to write the article “Health and Wellness Value Creation for Human Resource Professionals.”
The article, which was published in the HRM Review journal in August 2011, discusses the increasing healthcare costs in the United States and how individuals and organizations are being impacted. The paper outlines some of the strategic steps that HR has taken to successfully create a culture of wellness in the workplace.
According to the article, HR must gain support from upper management in order to meet departmental and organizational wellness goals. Management must encourage employee participation, and show that wellness programs are an investment in human capital that creates ROI and long-term stability for the organization.
