Fass has worked with the BSO for two years. Operation Medicine Cabinet provides individuals with an opportunity to dispose of unwanted, unused and expired medications. As of January 2011, the drug collection tally was 24,026 controlled substances and an estimated 152,400 non-controlled drugs that were destroyed. Fass’ COP Drug Information Center rotation students have also played an active role in assisting with Operation Medicine Cabinet.

Fass was featured in the BSO’s official newsletter Signal 14 with NSU student pharmacist Lingyun Lu, which can be found at the following link: http://sheriff.org/_files/_signal14/2011-01-01.pdf. Fass’ involvement in prescription drug take-back programs was also recently published in the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy located at the following reference: Fass JA.
