Beware of Phishing Email Messages!

Please be aware there are various phishing email messages being sent to NSU account holders. You may have received email messages claiming to be from the NSU “Management Team” urging you to update your account. Also, you may have received email messages claiming to be from the “Webmail Support Team,” the “Webmail Online Team,” or from “E-resource” stating that your mailbox may have been compromised, or that you need to revalidate or upgrade your account; advising of maintenance being performed; or advising that your university profile needs to be updated.

These messages urge recipients to reply by email or click on a link included in the email message and to provide their NSU username and password, or log into a “secure” webpage. These messages are NOT legitimate. NSU will NEVER request that you submit personal information, including your username or password through e-mail. Further, although the links in some of these messages will take you to a web page that looks legitimate (inclusive of the NSU logo), it is not legitimate and any attempt to log in will result in your credentials being compromised.

If you suspect that you may have responded to a phishing scheme and submitted information about your NSU username and password, you should immediately go to the secure “Sharklink Portal” at https://sharklink.nova.edu to change your password; (please type the URL directly into your browsers’ address bar). If you are having difficulty changing your NSU password, please contact the OIT Help desk at 954-262-HELP (4357) for assistance.

For more information about phishing and other popular malicious email schemes, and the steps that NSU is taking to minimize their effect and protect the NSU user population, see the Malicious Email Documentation on the NSU Help Desk website. Should you have any questions, you may submit at spamreport@nova.edu.
