How to Beat Junk Mail

It’s not called “treasure mail” or “useful mail” for a reason. It’s junk mail, and it gets thrown in the trash so fast, you’d think that’s what it was designed for. What’s worse, so much of it gets delivered to you every day at the cost of so much trees, energy, and CO2 emissions. Not only can it be downright annoying, but it’s bad for the environment.

Fortunately, there are ways to escape the never-ending flow of junk mail to your home or business – and they’re easier than calling up companies and trying to opt out of mailing lists. The websites Catalog Choice and 41pounds (the estimated amount of junk mail an average American receives every year) both work to remove you from mailing lists and stop junk mail from reaching you. Catalog choice lets you remove yourself from the mailing lists of companies that are already marketing to you for free. Both sites will remove you from marketing databases (the guys who sell your info to companies, who then send you mail) for a fee.

Not only can you free up space in your mailbox and garbage can, but you can help the environment too!
