Award-Winning Authors Featured at Alvin Sherman Library During LitLIVE!

Author Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot, who wrote The Third Chapter: Passion, Risk, and Adventure in the 25 Years After 50.

LitLIVE!, part of the 21th edition of Literary Feast, recently brought 24 acclaimed authors to the Alvin Sherman Library, Research and Information Technology Center to present and meet with patrons, and to greet thousands of book lovers throughout the day.

The free daylong series included panel discussions, lectures, book sales and signings on Saturday, March 21. Featured authors included bestseller Vicki Myron (Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World), Stephen Coonts (The Assassin), Joyce Carol Oates (My Sister, My Love), Rita Mae Brown (The Purrfect Murder) and 2008 National Book Award winner for nonfiction Annette Gordon-Reed (The Hemingses of Monticello).

This year’s program highlights also included Meline Kevorkian, Ed.D., executive director of academic review at NSU. Kevorkian is the author of several books for parents and educators, including 101 Facts About Bullying: What Everyone Should Know.

Literary Feast 2009 was a two-day event to benefit the Broward Public Library Foundation. NSU was the event’s title sponsor. In addition to LitLIVE!, Literary Feast events included a Novel Day for high school students on March 20 and a Night of Literary Feasts the evening of Saturday, March 21.
