Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra to Host 10th Annual Young-Artists Concerto Competition Finals at NSU

The Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra, in partnership with the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, will host the final round of its Young-Artists Concerto Competition on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the college’s Performing and Visual Arts Wing of the Don Taft University Center, room 309.

Part of the college’s Resident Series, this competition showcases two divisions of musicians: Division I includes secondary-level musicians from grades 9 to 12; and Division II includes musicians at the college, university, or conservatory level, up to the age of 25.

The 10th annual Young-Artists Concerto Competition features musicians from around the country and the globe. The winners of this year’s competition will earn the prestigious opportunity to perform with the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra for a special concert on Saturday, January 28, 2012, in the Miniaci Performing Arts Center at NSU.

All tickets for the Young-Artists Concerto Competition are $10 and available at the door. For more information, visit www.arsflores.com.

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences partners with Ars Flores to further connect campus and community creative resources. NSU’s orchestra in residence is a unique professional orchestra with professional, conservatory, college, and gifted high school students performing side by side. The orchestra gives students a rare opportunity to rehearse and perform with talented professional musicians, all of whom hold at least one degree in music.
